Programming for Families

West Chester Township supports and hosts a variety of special events and recreational programs for the enjoyment of the community.

Registration required for WOLF

and Nature Basket programs.  Call 759-7312 or email lgroff@westchesteroh.org and leave name, home phone number, the program attending and the number of children that will attend. There is no charge.

 

Nature Basket Program – Programs are suited for preschool children, ages 3 to 5, and their adult companions. All programs include a story, a talk about seasonal nature and a craft. Adult help with craft is required.

All sessions will begin at 10:30 a.m. Programs meet at Keehner Park at 7211 Barrett Road in the summer and fall and at the Station Road Schoolhouse at 6670 Station Road in the winter. Rain does not cancel!

WOLF Program - The WOLF (World of Land, Forest and Friends) program is offered at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Wednesdays during the summer. The program is for children ages 5 to 14 and focuses attention each week on a specific topic related to nature and the environment. All programs will be in the Deer Shelter at Keehner Park. Participants who attend 5 out of the 6 sessions will earn a prize. Passport to Fishing or Nature Basket programs may count as a make-up session.

Bike Rodeo

Presented by West Chester Police Department

Rain date is May 25

Start the summer off on the right pedal!  West Chester police officers guide youngsters through a course designed to teach them the rules of the road and provide important bicycle safety tips.  Technicians will also inspect bikes and make adjustments if needed.  Children must be accompanied by an adult and must bring their bike and helmet to participate.

View the stars and planets up close at Keehner Park tennis court area. Members of the Cincinnati Astronomical Society will set up their powerful scopes for viewing of the night sky. Bring your questions and learn about the planets, stars and other heavenly bodies.

Enjoy fishing with your kids (ages 6 – 16) while sharing an important discussion about the dangers of drugs. Children and adults will have an opportunity to talk with West Chester's Crime Prevention Officer about drugs in the schools and adults will get new ideas of how to talk with children about the dangers of drugs. Fishing poles available for use. Lunch provided by West Chester Police Department. Limit 50 children. Participants must attend the entire program. Previous attendees welcome.

Meet at the gazebo at the Ronald Reagan Lodge at Voice of America Park (7850 VOA Park Dr) at 8:30 a.m. to sign in. Please enter off Cox Road.  

 

Arts in the Park

Arts in the Park will offer affordable classes in painting, drawing, theater and more.  These workshops are open to students of all ages, from preschoolers to seniors in high school.  Visit the website for more details, including registration information.

 

Pioneer Christmas

December 15, 1 to 4 p.m., Keehner Park Log Cabin

Celebrate the holidays just like the pioneers did!  The Cabin in the Clearing will be decorated for a traditional holiday celebration as Santa visits and traditional pioneer fare is featured.
