Fire Department - CPR Classes
As part of The West Chester University Program, The Fire Department offers training to individuals and local businesses in a wide variety of subjects, but we are most commonly asked to assist a business with becoming CPR certified, either to meet regulations required for that company or merely for the benefit of its employees. West Chester's CPR program covers different levels of certification so that we can best meet your specific needs or those of your organization.
All of the CPR classes offered by the West Chester Fire Department follow the American Heart Association guidelines and upon completion, all participants will receive a certification card from the AHA stating they have successfully completed an AHA course and are certified to that level of CPR for which they received training. The certification is good for two years from the date of completion of the training. It is recommended that CPR be reviewed every year, and that re-certification is done every two years. The cost listed for each course includes the necessary workbook, the certification card and any printed materials for the class, as well as the cost for the instructor.
The West Chester Fire Department prides itself on assisting local businesses with their training needs. CPR classes can be scheduled at your facility or can be conducted at one of West Chester's fire stations. Scheduling is flexible, courses can be scheduled for any time and any weekday, weekends are limited. In order to efficiently conduct a class, please provide at least four students per class and no more than 18 students. Additional scheduling time may be required with larger classes due to the necessity for additional instructors. All training material is brought along with the instructor, which includes mannequins, videos and handouts. Because the courses are mostly video based, a TV and DVD player must be provided for the class. Ample space is also required for partiicipants to perform the necessary skills comfortably.
For additional information, call the West Chester Fire Department at 777-1133.
