Trustee George Lang announces his resignation
West Chester Board of Trustees Vice President George Lang will resign from the Board of Trustees effective at the time of his swearing in as Representative of the 52nd Ohio House District on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
Mr. Lang was appointed Sept. 11 to fill the vacancy in the State Legislature created by the retirement of Margy Conditt.
Mr. Lang made notice of his resignation at the regular Board of Trustees meeting.
Mr. Lang was first elected to the West Chester Board of Trustees in 2003 and was re-elected in 2007, 2011 and 2015. A resident of West Chester since 1990, Lang is married to long-time sweetheart Debbie and they have two daughters.
The rules for filling a vacancy on a township Board of Trustees are spelled out in Ohio Revised Code 503.24.
Because Mr. Lang’s resignation is effective more than 40 days before the next general election, a successor is to be chosen at that general election to fill the unexpired term. Prior to Mr. Lang’s resignation, the West Chester electorate were already poised to determine two Board of Trustees positions in the Nov. 7 election.
