The Muhlhauser Barn is a restored timber-frame barn from the 1880s. The barn, which offers a rustic setting for any event is available for rent. The Barn is available for rent April 1 through November 15. The Barn can accommodate up to 150 guests for a wedding reception, family reunion, or meeting.

History: The Muhlhauser and Moerlein names are among the most recognizable in Butler County. Their families maintained summer homes here and operated some of the largest farms in the area, catering to the production of beer. In 1866, Gottlieb Muhlhauser joined forces with Conrad Windisch and started the Windisch-Muhlhauser Brewing Co. The 1881 timber-frame barn once used in the Muhlhauser farming operation is one of the few of its kind remaining in Ohio.

The Moerlein Gazebo, also at Beckett Park, once graced the lawn of the stately Moerlein family home on Port Union Road near the West Chester Township boundary. Built in the late 1920's to replace the original 1827 Moerlein home, the house was the home base for the Christian Moerlein family brewery business. The home was torn down in the 1990s, but the charming copper-roofed gazebo was donated to West Chester Township.

For rental information, call 759-7301 or visit our Permits/Applications page.
