Introduction:
Dive into the history and Cold War significance of the USS Cincinnati. Actual pieces of the sub are incorporated into the project, which was funded by private donors.
We are honored to invite our Navy veterans and our entire community to a special public celebration on Saturday,May 16 at the Voice of America MetroPark in West Chester, Ohio, marking the official opening of the USS Cincinnati Peace Pavilion. The public grand opening starts at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, at 8070 Tylersville Road.
This Peace Pavilion stands as a meaningful tribute to and lasting symbol of service, sacrifice, and pride—and we look forward to celebrating it with you.
The day will include two separate events.
The morning recommissioning ceremony (8:30–11:30 a.m.) is a private, invitation-only program reserved for USS Cincinnati crew members, senior Navy leadership, local leaders, and key project supporters.
However, we warmly welcome everyone to thepublic grand opening celebration beginning at 1 p.m. You and your family and friends can experience the Peace Pavilion up close through docent-led tours, connect with fellow veterans, and enjoy food trucks and commemorative giveaways.
The Peace Pavilion will be open on Sunday, May 17 during regular Park hours for self-guided tours.
The Pavilion gives you a sense of the size of the nuclear submarine that served during the Cold War, and signage throughout the sub will provide insight and history. Several pieces of the actual USS Cincinnati were incorporated into the Peace Pavilion, including the Conning Tower, reserve generator known as "The Big Red Machine" and the rear rudder.
We hope to see you at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 16 as we celebrate the public grand opening of this landmark.
