Be a part of determining next steps for West Chester's land use

Post Date:04/18/2018 9:31 AM

In the coming year, West Chester will launch a process to update its Comprehensive Land Use Plan and a few committed volunteers will be appointed to be a part of that important project.

The West Chester Land Use Planning Committee is composed of nine to 12 volunteer members. West Chester residents and business owners are appointed by the Board of Trustees for an annual term.

web_3042The Committee is charged with recommending updates of the West Chester Comprehensive Land Use Plan to the West Chester Board of Trustees for adoption every five years. The Committee meets regularly, on a quarter-annual basis to conduct public forums to obtain public input and feedback in order to make those recommendations.

Additionally, the Committee is charged with special meetings for Zoning Map Amendment applications, which require further considerations for the Board of Trustees during those times between the five year updates.

West Chester is a community of nearly 36 square miles with 21.3 percent of its designated commercial property and 6.26 percent of residential property still poised for development.
