West Chester awarded three OTARMA grants

Post Date:04/26/2018 11:10 AM

West Chester Township officials recently accepted $2,500 in grant awards from the Ohio Township Association Risk Management Authority (OTARMA) Board of Directors.

The award money represents three grants: a $500 MORE (Managing Ohio Risk Exposures) Grant; and two $1,000 each Police and Fire Grants.

“I would like to thank the OTARMA Board of Directors for their support and acknowledge Township department directors for their efforts to secure these grants on behalf of the residents and stakeholders of West Chester,” said Township Administrator Larry D. Burks.

The MORE Grant, which is designed to assist Ohio townships with eliminating or preventing risk exposures that lead to liability claims and property losses, will be applied by the Community Services Department to purchase traffic safety cones. The grant has been available to OTARMA members since 2013.

The Police and Fire Grant, which is a new OTARMA program for 2018, is designed to assist police and fire departments in developing and updating policies and procedures. West Chester Township will use the grant money to offset the cost of its policy management software purchased through Lexipol.

On hand for the award presentation at West Chester Fire Headquarters, Station 71, were (pictured, left to right): Tim Franck, director, community services; Police Chief Joel Herzog; Thomas Welsh, account manager, Burnham & Flower Insurance Group; Fire Chief Rick Prinz; and Jonathan Theders, CRA, chief executive officer, RiskSOURCE Clark-Theders.
