West Chester first responders participate in 9-11 remembrances

Post Date:09/07/2018 2:07 PM

Never forget.

For 17 years the Fire Service has upheld its pledge to “never forget” the events and victims of September 11, 2001, and West Chester first responders will fulfill their promise publicly at local events Tuesday.

Beginning at 10 a.m., West Chester first responders will take part in a flag raising ceremony at Chesterwood Village, 8073 Tylersville Rd. The tribute includes student performances, guest speakers and more followed by light refreshments. West Chester Police will also participate. This event is open to the public.

At 7 p.m., WCFD firefighters join colleagues in the Butler County Safety Services September 11 Memorial held at the Butler County Firefighter’s Memorial on South Monument Avenue in Hamilton. Sponsored by the Butler County Fire Chief’s Association, the evening event remembers all first responders who’ve made the ultimate sacrifice. Rain location is the Fitton Center, 101 S. Monument Ave.

Fire and EMS services to the community are unaffected by special events.
