The volunteers who serve on West Chester Township’s Zoning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals play an important role in the future of the community and there are positions available for those interested in applying.
The West Chester Township Board of Trustees is requesting residents interested in serving on the West Chester Township Zoning Commission (ZC) or the West Chester Township Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) submit a letter of interest and resume.
The deadline for applications to these volunteer posts is Friday, April 26, 2019, and applicants must be residents of West Chester Township. Please specify to which Board you are applying.
Candidate interviews are currently scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, May 7.
The Board of Trustees will appoint one member to fill an expired five-year term and one member to fill an expired three-year alternate term on the Zoning Commission.
The responsibilities of the Zoning Commission are described in Article 7 of the West Chester Township Zoning Resolution, and generally involve the review of requests for Zone Changes, Preliminary and Final Development Plans. To be eligible for a position on the Zoning Commission, the applicant must be a resident of West Chester Township.
The Board of Trustees will also appoint one member to fill an expired five-year term and one member to fill an expired three-year alternate term on the BZA.
The responsibilities of the BZA are described in Article 8 of the West Chester Township Zoning Resolution and generally involve the review of requests for variances, special exceptions, conditional uses, administrative appeals, and interpretations of the Zoning Resolution.
