PHOTOS: Five dog-friendly summer events in West Chester
Calling all doggos, puppers and woofers – we want to meet you! Bring your four-legged, furry friends along to these summer events in West Chester. Well-behaved dogs are welcomed at many community events and at all public parks, but please keep pets on leash at all times.
When you visit be sure to stop, sniff and say, “Hello,” if you happen to run into any of our Public Information & Engagement (PIE) staff members with cameras. You and your pride-and-joy may just be featured in the community’s promotional marketing materials, like the pups seen below!
West Chester Farmers Market - Saturdays
Beginning May 25 and running through September 28, the summer market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on The Square @ Union Centre, 9285 Centre Pointe Drive. Shop local for seasonal produce and fruits, homemade and handmade goods, and one-of-a-kind specialties. Occasionally, the market will invite a pet rescue organization to bring some of their adoptable friends. Learn more >
Touch A Truck – June 14
Kids and families are invited to this free community event Friday, June 14 to see all of the cool trucks and vehicles that serve our community every day. Touch A Truck goes from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on The Square @ Union Centre, 9285 Centre Pointe Dr. New this year, a “sensory friendly” hour will take place before the full event gets rolling starting at 10 a.m. Learn more >
West Chester Concert Series – Saturdays
Keehner Park is an amazing place to explore with your dog on leash and the amphitheatre, located on the east side of the 123-acre park, is a great place to catch a concert. Bring a blanket or chair, pack a picnic and enjoy nearly a dozen free, live music concerts on select Saturdays from 7 to 9 p.m. The amphitheatre, which also plays host to Arts in the Park events June 15 and July 27, is located at 7211 Barret Road. The Takeover – Thursdays
Weekends start early in West Chester! Paw-ty with us every Thursday night (except July 4) from 6 to 9 p.m. on The Square @ Union Centre, 9285 Centre Pointe Drive. The Takeover, presented by First Financial Bank, is a free summer concert series June 6 through August 30 featuring popular live bands, food trucks, adult beverages, and craft beer from local brewers DogBerry and Grainworks. Union Centre Food Truck Rally – August 9
Some consider the annual Food Truck Rally “top dog” when it comes to free summer events in Butler County. Food, fun and fireworks are the themes of this family-friendly festival on The Square @ Union Centre, 9285 Centre Pointe Drive. Taste from about 40 gourmet food trucks and enjoy live music all day long Friday, Aug. 9. Proceeds support a local non-profit each year. Learn more >
