Trustees waive fees to help homeowners through quarantine

Offices are open and no-contact permit drop-off procedures help ensure the health safety of applicants and staff.

Home has taken on new meaning these days and the West Chester Board of Trustees are waiving some zoning permit application fees to help homeowners through quarantine.

For homeowners considering a new fence, deck, remodel or other home improvement project, the permitting process is necessary to ensure work is completed according to code and is safe. Through June 26, the Township is waiving the fees associated with the zoning application process for these residential permits. Permits themselves are not being waived.

β€œIt is a gesture to support our residents through this difficult time,” said West Chester Board of Trustees President Ann Becker. β€œWe know many are at home and may be looking at an improvement project they have wanted to do for years. West Chester is happy to help lower the cost for these projects while ensuring the projects are still safely completed.”

West Chester Community Development Department is still open regular hours and has implemented no-contact permit drop-off procedures to ensure the health safety of applicants and staff.

Permit activity in West Chester has not slowed during the public health crisis. In March 2019, West Chester processed 72 permit applications. In March 2020, 94 permit applications were processed, including 71 from March 16 through April 15.

For information on permits, please call West Chester Community Development at 513-777-4214.
