With summer coming up, and concerns about COVID-19 still looming, many people are looking at backyard pools to help keep cool.
The Community Development Department remains ready and available to assist or answer questions about your planned home improvement projects. For swimming pools, it's always best to start by checking with your HOA on any restrictions.
West Chester does not require permits for any pools less than 3-feet deep, which covers most inflatable or kiddie pools. For pools more than 3-feet deep, the pool must be surrounded by a lockable fence and be more than 10-feet from your neighbor’s property. A zoning permit is required for all pools greater than 3-feet deep.
To help homeowners through quarantine, West Chester Trustees have waived some zoning permit application fees through June 26. This waiver includes all fees for pool permits.
Community Development offices are open regular hours and has implemented no-contact permit drop-off procedures to ensure the health safety of applicants and staff. Contact the office at 513-777-4214, or find more information about permits online.
