David Pickering joined the West Chester team in 2016 as Assistant Chief of Administration supervising the daily personnel needs of the Fire Department.
Assistant Chief Pickering has more than three decades of experience in fire service with most of those years spent with the Colerain Township Fire Department. He is a graduate of Columbia Southern University.
Assistant Chief Pickering was awarded the State of Ohio Governor’s Heroism Medal for his 9/11 response to Ground Zero with FEMA’s Ohio Task Force 1 Urban Search & Rescue Team.
He is one of two assistant chiefs serving the department and working under the direction of the Fire Chief to ensure efficiency in this 24/365 operation. Assistant Chief Pickering ensures the daily needs of each Fire Department employee is met in order to provide West Chester citizens with the best in overall Fire/EMS service delivery.
In his spare time, Assistant Chief Pickering is a team member with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Track Safety Team, is a cyclist and enjoys golf and ice hockey.
