Col. Brian Rebholz’s career with the West Chester Police Department began in September 1992 and he was appointed Assistant Chief of Police in December 2016 and Chief of Police in December 2024.
During his career with West Chester, Col. Rebholz has served as a patrol officer, a K-9 officer, sergeant, and lieutenant as a shift commander. He spent three years in Criminal Investigations as a detective and fire investigator; and returned to CIS as a sergeant for three years.
Col. Rebholz served about 16 years on the SWAT team and as SWAT commander supervised team expansion, increased qualification standards, the requisition of the BEAR armored vehicle, Command and Operations Platform vehicle, and the Rapid Deployment Vehicle for SWAT deployments and operations.
Leading a team of police, fire, civilian, and community members, Chief Rebholz helped shape a new personnel evaluation process and develop vision, mission and guiding principles for the department.
He graduated from the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police Certified Law Enforcement Executive School, the Ohio Police Executive Leadership College, and the FBI National Academy.
Col. Rebholz earned a bachelor’s degree in Management from Indiana Wesleyan University and will earn a master’s in Justice Administration in the summer of 2020. He has served as a guest instructor for Butler Technology and Career Development and the University of Cincinnati Clermont College for criminal justice.
Prior to joining the West Chester Police Department, Col. Rebholz served seven year with the U.S. Air Force and is a Desert Shield and Desert Storm (Persian Gulf) veteran.
Col. Rebholz views one of his most important roles to be an ambassador for the township and positive example for West Chester police personnel, encouraging service with integrity, commitment, professionalism, and courage.
Col. Rebholz enjoys spending time outdoors and camping with family.
