The West Chester Police Department offers a fun and educational program for our youth in the community through the Police Explorer Scouts.  Designed for kids and young adults ages 14 - 20 who are interested in learning more about the law enforcement field. This branch of the Boy and Girl Scouts of America, is a great way for youth to learn life skills such as discipline, teamwork, and responsibility.Explorers

Members meet once a week on Saturdays from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the West Chester Police Department.  Scouts do not meet over the summer or during holidays.  The Explorer Leader will provide a schedule.  During the meeting, a West Chester Police Officer will provide training on procedures and tactics law enforcement officers acquire during the police academy.  All of knowledge and hands-on skills the youth learn are practiced to prepare them for the Annual Regional Explorer Scout Competition against other explorer scout posts.

The West Chester Police Department Explorer Scouts are given the opportunity to assist the police department during community events and participate as role players during training for the officers.
